Transfer to Umbwe Gate (1,650 meters / 5,413 feet), the starting point of the Umbwe Route. Begin the trek through dense montane rainforest, with steep and challenging terrain. Hike to Umbwe Camp (2,943 meters / 9,656 feet) for your first night on the mountain.
